This restaurant is part of the Ce restaurant fait partie de la Golf Club Club de Golf - there’s a collection of buildings around it including the Hotel Labrador. -- Il ya une collection de bâtiments autour de lui, y compris l'Hôtel-Labrador. A few years ago it burned down, and has now been rebuilt in a very atttactive ‘log cabin’ style - Finlandais as it’s called here. Il ya quelques années, elle a brûlé, et a été reconstruite dans un très atttactive 'cabane' style - Finlandais comme il l'appelle ici. I’ve heard good recommendations of the food, so we went to try it out. J'ai entendu dire que les recommandations de la bonne nourriture, donc nous sommes allés à l'essayer.
It’s a lovely building, and even in this low season time, they’d made an effort to decorate it seasonally with autumn leaves and pumpkins - including some enormous pumpkins piled around the outside. C'est un joli bâtiment, et ce, même en basse saison, le temps, ils avaient fait un effort pour décorer saisonnières avec les feuilles d'automne et citrouilles - dont certains énormes citrouilles empilés à l'extérieur. The interior is very pretty - spacious and warm, and nicely divided up with booths and other seating areas. L'intérieur est très joli - spacieux et chaleureux, et bien réparti des isoloirs et autres places. Decor is modern, upmarket Alpine, and I quite liked the animatronic polar bear which gives a nice hint of frivolity. La décoration est moderne et haut de gamme Alpine, et je suis tout à fait aimé l'animatronique ours polaire qui donne une belle touche de frivolité. It’s mercifully free of golfing memorabilia. Il est heureusement libre de golf memorabilia.
We were brought a lovely amuse-bouche of pumpkin soup while looking over the menu, which is in both French and English. Nous avons apporté un joli amuse-bouche de la soupe au potiron tout en examinant le menu, qui est à la fois en français et en anglais. Some very nice seasonal choices on it (which are helpfully marked out clearly) included a very wide selection of local game. The standout starter was a beautifully presented small pumpkin filled with truffled pumpkin soup and containing seared scallops, held steady on a mashed potato base and surrounded by rocket. Le démarreur se fut présenté un beau petit citrouille remplie de soupe au potiron et truffé contenant seared pétoncles, se sont maintenus sur une base de purée de pommes de terre et entourée de fusée. This was one of the nicest things I’ve eaten in Chamonix - truly delicious. Ce fut l'une des plus belles choses que j'ai mangé à Chamonix - vraiment délicieux.
My main course was, unfortunately, the wrong dish - some salmon that was a bit uneventful. Mon principal a été, malheureusement, le mauvais plat - quelques saumons qui était un peu déroulé sans incident. Everyone else’s was excellent - highlights included lamb cooked for seven hours, a game confit, and the lovely side dishes. Puddings were inventive, tasty and beautifully presented - my shortbread with nougat icecream and figs was really special. Puddings sont inventifs, savoureux et joliment présentés - shortbread avec mon nougat glaces et les figues était vraiment spécial.
Overall it’s a lovely place. Globalement c'est un très bel endroit. Personally, I slightly prefer the food at the Personnellement, je préfère légèrement la nourriture à la Eden , as it’s a little lighter, but La Cabane has the edge in terms of decor, it’s really very pretty inside - the warmth of the wood keeps the spacious interior cosy. , Car c'est un peu léger, mais La Cabane a la pointe en termes de décor, il est vraiment très joli restaurant - la chaleur du bois maintient l'intérieur spacieux et chaleureux. It’s quite a smart place, and perfect for a special occasion, or a romantic dinner. Il est très intelligent, et parfait pour une occasion spéciale, ou un dîner romantique.
